Philadelphia Zoo 2016...

On this year;'s trip to the Philadelphia zoo, we opted to come a little earlier in the year than usual in an effort to avoid the summer heat. This year, we would ne bringing an extra-large crowd with us. Together, our family, my step-sister-in-law's family and some friends, arrived at the South entrance of the zoo in three cars. As usual, we brought sandwiches and bottled water with us. We planned to buy drinks and snacks at the zoo. Keenan and Amanda arrived first along with some of my step-sister-in-law's children. They had complimentary children's tickets, so, they only had to pay for themselves. We took the main trail from the South entrance. The small monkeys at the bottom of the hill were still in the midst of their morning nap. LACEO Banquet 2016...

Over Mothers' Day weekend, Mom and I went to the annual LACEO banquet. For those of you who don't know, LACEO is the Latin-American Cultural Exchange Organization. LACEO is a Philadelphia non-profit organization, dedicated to outreach to youth and the local community, located in Graterford Prison, Graterford PA. LACEO usually holds a banquet complete with guest speakers on the day before Mother's Day. We arrived a little early to secure one of the last few lockers remaining. On most days there are usually enough lockers for everyone, but, on this day they were almost out of lockers by the time we arrived. After checking in, we arrived at the venue around 11:30am. This year's menu included pork chops, fried fish, fried chicken, salted cod, lasagna and rice with beans. For desert, ice cream and cake. This year, pre-packaged flan was offered as well.
