Soft, Fluffy And Not Quite At War...
I have some new pictures of Daisy and Chris. Chris isn't really a lap kitty, but, in this case, I was sitting on Chris' sofa, so, she wanted to see me off by poking holes in my leg. The second picture shows Chris on the coffee table in front of the heat register. Daisy is in front of the window. We're not really sure how Chris was treated before she came to us, but, we have noticed that Chris doesn't like to sit in a cat bed. The third picture shows one of the rare occasions when Chris actually sat in a cat bed. The fourth picture shows Daisy curled up on my bed. I had my door open for a bit and Daisy can't resist making herself comfortable in my bed. The fifth picture shows Daisy and Chris sharing a sofa.
Over the past couple of months, following Toto's demise, Mom and I have noticed a dramatic change Chris and Daisy. Chris has attempted to claim the upstairs as part of her own territory, but, Daisy had other plans and after repeated incursions into what was supposed to be Chris' territory, Daisy had succeeded in wearing Chris down to the point where she didn't really care if Daisy went upstairs.
Chris used to sit by the stairs waiting for Daisy to take the long way around the sofa, so that Chris could mount an ambush, leading with a mock charge when Daisy came around the corner. Now, although Chris still mounts the occasional mock charge, these displays of bravado come much less frequently than before.
The dining room table was another bone of contention that Chris jealously defended. Early on, Chris would corner Daisy and grumble, if Daisy got anywhere near the table. Now, Daisy and Chris can actually be on the same table at the same time without grumbling. Daisy can even sit in Chris' kitty condo by the back window and look outside without having to worry about Chris stalking her.
During the winter months, Chris has taken up residence near one of the two heat registers in the living room, with Daisy occupying the other register. Sometimes the two kitties can actually sit in front of the same register without grumbling. Sometimes, Chris will stir the pot a bit, while the two kitties are sharing the coffee table in front of one of the heat registers -- one kitty above and one below. Occasionally, Chris, from her vantage point above Daisy will reach down and give Daisy a little tap with her paw. If Daisy isn't expecting "death from above", Chris' actions might get the two kitties hissing at each other.
Lately, the two kitties have even been seen sharing the same sofa. This would have been unthinkable a few months ago. Mom and I believe that these two kitties are not going to ever be best friends, but, at least they seem to be tolerating one another reasonably well.
