Thanksgiving 2015...

Thanksgiving has come and hone. This years' feast included turkey, ham, stuffing, meatballs and baked macaroni. Carmen brought sweet potatoes and Karen brought collard greens. For dessert, Mom mad a pumpkin/chocolate cake and a couple of cheesecakes. Mom also made a flan for Karen. We had a surprisingly good turnout this year with Carmen and Victor, Karen, Junior and a couple of Karen's extended family members. and, of course, Tony and his kids. Josh made an appearance along with with Justin -- around whom have swirled a number of recent rumors.

Mom and I had our rooms open. The plan was to offer Daisy, Chris and Toto a relative safe haven in the face of the onslaught of guests. But, thanks to Chris, Daisy had to stay downstairs. Toto went upstairs and found a really good hiding place in my room. After everyone had left, Toto, Daisy and Chris celebrated the holiday with a small can of tuna and a little bit of turkey. All things considered, it was a good Thanksgiving.

Before the Thanksgiving weekend, Daisy decided to stir the pot by invading Chris' nest in the dining room. Daisy climbed up into Chris' window and then realized that Chris had blocked the main exit. Daisy and Chris stared at each other for a while until Daisy decided to make a hasty withdrawal around the curtain and past the evil vacuum cleaner.

Meanwhile, Chris, not wishing to be outdone by the likes of Daisy, decided to sit in Daisy's window while Daisy was sitting in the same window. The two were separated only by the curtain that stood between them. Fortunately, although the two did stare at each other through the curtain and Daisy did grumble a bit, Chris and Daisy did part ways without any incidents.

Chris, still flying high, after her recent encounters with Daisy, tried to deny Toto access to the toy box. Needless to say, that didn't end well for Chris. When Chris moved into the toy box in an effort to intimidate Toto, Toto simply walked around behind Chris and pounced on her back. Chris was so completely flustered, that she abandoned the toy box.

Chris immediately realized that she had made a critical tactical error --  she showed weakness. Chris tried to redeem herself by charging Toto and stopping short. This tactic usually is enough to intimidate kitties like Daisy, but, Toto was not impressed. Toto responded with a tried and tested tactic of his own, Toto stared at Chris and inched closer. Then, while continuing to stare, Toto inched still closer. After Toto had inched uncomfortably close, Chris decided to back down.

Chris and Daisy still don't see eye-to-eye on who owns the upstairs. Mom was up a bit early one morning with a mild bout of insomnia. Daisy was upstairs stirring the pot with Chris, when for some reason that defies description, Daisy decided that it was a good idea to have a seat next to Toto while he was enjoying some alone time in the bathtub. In a confined space, with only one way out, Daisy's decision didn't go over well with Toto.

There was some screaming and ruckus in the bathroom and by the time a come out into the hallway, the commotion had moved downstairs. I went downstairs and found Mom trying to separate Daisy and Toto. Toto had Daisy cornered and was out for blood. Toto's tail was as fat as a Coke bottle and he was puffed up to twice his normal size. Toto can be quite intimidating when he really wants to be. Eventually we got everyone separated and calmed down. There were no injuries except for Daisy's bruised ego.

Chris, for her part, didn't want any part of the dispute between Daisy and Toto. Chris stayed well clear of the battle and was a bit more timid around Toto for the rest of the day.
