The One-Eyed Monster Returns...

Recently, Toto started winking at me. I looked at his eye and didn't see anything out of place, but, he continued to wink and rub his eye. Toto developed an eye infection and I had to take him to my vet to get the usual round of antibiotics. During the exam, the vet gave me news that I didn't want to hear. Toto's recent and rather expensive corrective eye surgery was somewhat less than the permanent solution I was hoping for. I'm not happy about this unexpected turn of events. Unfortunately, the timing couldn't be worse. Here I am fresh out of the extra several hundred dollars and the two weeks vacation it would take to fix this issue once and for all. When it rains, it pours. But, for what it's worth, Toto's eye surgeon empathizes with my situation. Fortunately, Toto responded well to the antibiotics and seems to be in good spirits.

Over the long Labor Day weekend, Mom invited a few people over for an informal get-together. Those people invited a few more people and before we knew what had happened, there was a whole crowd. Toto was completely overwhelmed and hiding in the upstairs hallway wasn't really working for him, so, I allowed Toto to hide in my room. I even pulled back the quilt to let some day light in. Toto got comfortable and rolled over on his back to show me how relaxed and happy he was. It was a very long Labor Day gathering, but, eventually, it did end and Toto, Otto and Daisy were able to go downstairs and celebrate the end of the Labor Day festivities with a can of tuna.
