Winter 2013...
Christmas 2012 has come and gone. This year, unlike previous years, it didn't really feel like Christmas. I'm not a big fan of middle-of-the-week Christmas. Christmas day was rather subdued. Gifts were exchanged early, there was food and the kitties got to play with the boxes. Likewise for New Year's Day -- it didn't really feel right in the middle of the week. The kitties decided to ride out the typical New Year's eve fireworks and gun fire in the upstairs hallway.
A Visit From Sandy...
Due to an ongoing construction project in our neighborhood to replace the water pipes and sewer lines for all of the houses on the block, Mom and I had already stocked up on bottled water. The weekend before Sandy's arrival, Mom and I decided to make sure that we had enough people food, cat food and cat litter for the coming week. I also charged up the mobile devices just in case the power went out. Here in Philadelphia, there was some minor flooding and some wind damage. One of our neighbors across the street from us, had their roof torn open by the force of the wind. The cones set up by the construction workers in the neighborhood, were blown all over the place. Mass transit wasn't available until Tuesday afternoon, so, I didn't have to go into work until Wednesday.
I got a real kick out of New Jersey Governor Christie's antics over the weekend with regard to the Mayor of Atlantic City. Compared with our own governor, Christie can certainly liven up a press conference like few others. All things considered, Mom and I came out pretty good in the aftermath of Sandy.
