Washington DC 2011...

Mom, Amanda and I went to Washington DC over the weekend. We took a train from the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia to the Union Station in Washington DC. We left Philadelphia around 8:15am and arrived at Washington around 10:00am. I was fairly impressed with 30th Street Station until I got to Washington DC and saw Union Station -- it made 30th Street look shabby and run down by comparison. We did the usual tourist thing and took a tour bus to see all the major sites. We got off near the White House to get a closer look...Later, we got back on the tour bus and saw some of the embassies and some of the more expensive houses in the Georgetown section of the city. We got off the tour bus and had a bite to eat at the local Hard Rock Restaurant. After lunch, we picked up some souvenirs and went into Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Amanda got some pictures behind the president's desk and a nice picture with Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean. Afterwards, we got back on the tour bus for look at some of the larger monuments like the Lincoln Memorial. After a grand tour of the city, we returned to Union Station and took the train back to Philadelphia. Our day ended around 10:00pm. Overall, Washington DC was a lot of fun and, sadly, much, much cleaner than Philadelphia. Here are some picture of the trip...
