A Tour Of Philly...
Mom and I decided to take a tour of some of the local historical attractions that Philadelphia has to offer. We went to the US Mint, stopped to look at the lobby of the Jewish Historical Museum, stopped at Independence Hall and spent some time at the Visitor's Center. We even took the time to take a carriage ride and learned a few things about Philadelphia that even we, as jaded residents of the city, didn't already know.
There were two highlights during our outing, one was the carriage ride. Our horse, Silver, knew the route like the back of his hoof and made the twists and turns automatically. Silver was not a horse to be swayed by such trivial matters as people walking across his path or red lights and on-coming traffic. Silver knew where he wanted to go and you took your life into your own hands, if you were foolish or daring enough to get in his way.
The second highlight was actually in the Gallery. We had to pass through the Gallery to get to the parking garage and stopped by a small book store in the lower level. As we were checking out, the manager kept trying to hard-sell us on a frequent shopper card. I tried to tell him that we weren't interested in such a thing, but, he was listening, so, after letting the manager ramble on for a while, I had to break the bad news to him, that his store was in the Gallery and that the chances of coming back to the Gallery in the course of a year was next to nothing. He tried to counter that they had other locations in obscure locations far away from civilization. To which I responded, that their other stores might as well be on the Moon or Mars. The store manager wasn't happy, but, he finally got the hint. All things considered, it was a good day out.
